I recently wrote a piece for Sussex Bylines in which I analysed the issues facing the British music industry and the proposed ticket levy plan.
As a grassroots music enthusiast, the closure of Britain's small venues is devestating to me along with having significant consequences for the independent music scene. Every band has to start somewhere, and more often than not it's at a local independent venue in which they can learn their craft and experiment with music. The closure of small venues risks the industry losing a crucial component of development for upcoming artists.
